Should you watch Steins;Gate 0 before Steins;Gate?

generally, for new viewers, it is not recommended to watch Mugs;Door 0 before the origin Steins;Door lively.

Mugs;Door 0 is not a prequel series like, for example, Jujutsu Kaisen 0. Mugs;Door 0 is an alternate timeline where the events that conclude the original series do not take place.

What is the best command to watch Steins;Gate?

It is widely believed that the best watch order for Steins;Door is the order of publication, rather than any chronological order.

The reason is that the time travel and line-skipping aspects of Steins;Door are best explained in the original series. Skipping before completing the first set can leave some aspects of the set confusing.

Therefore, the best watch order for Steins;Door is as follows:

  1. Steins; Gate (TV series)
  2. Steins;Gate: Selfish Poriomania (OVA)
  3. Steins;Gate: The Movie − Load region of Deja Vu (Movie)
  4. Steins;Gate: divide by zero (OVA)
  5. Steins;Gate 0 (TV series)
  6. Steins;Gate 0: Valentine’s of Crystal Polymorphism -Bittersweet Intermedio- (OVA)

The Steins;Door film, Load Deja Vu Region, is optional. The film is not considered canon because it breaks some of the Steins;Door rules of the universe. However, it is still appreciated by fans as it makes Kurisu the leader.

The same can be said for the two season-ending OVAs, both of which can be classified as filler episodes. Most people still recommend watching them because they’re very enjoyable, even if they don’t necessarily contribute to the plot.

Divider by zero is technically an alternate version of Steins;Door episode 23 – on the call sometimes Episode 23β. You can realistically watch it before the movie, although it was created to promote Mugs;Door 0that’s why we left it in the order of release dates.

The chronological Steins; Gate guard order

If you want to be smart with your Steins;Door watch order, you can watch the series in chronological order. This lets you see the events of the story as they happen from Okabe’s perspective.

Watching it this way is generally not recommended for new viewers as the timelines can get confusing. However, for re-watches, it may offer new insight into Okabe’s deteriorating state of mind.

Here is Steins;Gate’s chronological order :

  1. Steins;Gate Episodes 1-22
  2. Steins;Gate: Divide by Zero OVA (Episode 23β)
  3. Steins;Gate 0 Episodes 1-23
  4. Steins;Gate Episode 24

Many observers have said that this order makes Mugs;Door 0 Better, because it gives more weight to the events of the series.

Ultimately, the watch order you choose is up to you. Either way, you’re going to have fun!
