Vietnamese tourism leaves a good impression on foreign visitors

After the reopening of tourist activities since March 15, this national sector has seen significant growth as the number of Vietnamese and foreign travelers has also increased rapidly. As soon as the sector fully reopened, the National Tourism Administration launched the “Living Fully in Vietnam” communication campaign, with a series of promotional activities in and out of the country.

In addition, in early May, it launched a website to promote domestic tourism, focusing on introducing tourism images, entertainment venues and accommodations of the 12 provinces and cities hosting the competitions at SEA Games 31 This site has posted video clips on YouTube “Vietnam: Travel to love!” (Vietnam: Traveling to Love), culminating in a clip in honor of SEA Games 31: “Let’s shine and live Fully” (Let us shine and live fully).

In Hanoi, where the opening and closing ceremonies took place as well as many competitions of the 31are SEA Games, information campaigns on “the safe, friendly, quality and attractive capital” have been promoted. Municipal Tourism Department Director Dang Huong Giang said the capital has made efforts to promote the image of Vietnam’s culture, tourism, people and the capital in particular, with the slogan “Hanoi – Come to Love” (Hanoi – Come to love) broadcast on the media and social networks.

“The American television channel CNN broadcast an advertising clip 20 times 30 seconds titled +Hello Hanoi+, presenting the tourism of the Vietnamese capital with the SEA Games 31 logo integrated. In addition, the Municipal Tourism Department distributed 3,500 Hanoi tourist maps in English, 4,000 books +Hanoi – Safe, Friendly, Quality and Attractive Destination+ in two languages ​​- Vietnamese and English, and provided souvenir products to introduce Hanoi tourism Hanoi”informed Dang Huong Giang.

Contributing to tourism promotion efforts, many travel agencies have strengthened their cooperation to impress international tourists. Phung Quang Thang, chairman of the Hanoi Tourism Association and director of the Hanoi General Tourism Company (Hanoitourist), said many tourism products were introduced to visitors at SEA Games 31.

According to Nguyên Viêt Thu, commercial director of the Hayatt Regency West Hanoi hotel, to welcome the sports delegations and the athletes participating in the 31are SEA Games, the hotel presented them with the capital’s travel brochure as well as the map of Hanoi in two languages ​​- Vietnamese and English.

Assessing the effectiveness of Vietnam’s media campaigns since the reopening of its tourism, especially during the 31are SEA Games, National Tourism Administration Director General Nguyên Trùng Khanh, said Vietnamese tourism information and images attract many international travelers.

According to Google data, Vietnam is among the fastest growing destinations in terms of airline search and tourist accommodation. Among which, the markets which are most interested in Vietnam are the United States, Canada, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Australia, India, Japan, Singapore and Thailand, notably.

The important thing is that Vietnam has left a good impression among international friends, not only in the organization of sports competitions, but also in terms of friendliness and hospitality as well as quality tourist products”said Nguyên Trùng Khanh.

Expressing his impressions during his stay in Hanoi for SEA Games 31, Malaysian Dance Sports Team Manager Chua Zjen Fong shared: “The organizers are careful, warm and enthusiastic. I read a lot of information about Hanoi tourism at the hotel. I hope to have the opportunity to return to learn more.”

For his part, the Thai sportsman Jirasak Pakbuangoen of the rattan ball team shared that he particularly appreciated the double-decker bus in the Vietnamese capital. “I was impressed by Hanoi’s landscapes. Tourist places are increasingly crowded, which shows that life here has returned to normal after the COVID-19 outbreak.”

According to the National Tourism Administration, international tourism has again become “animated”. In April 2022 alone, Vietnam welcomed 101,000 foreign travelers, an increase of 242.9% from the previous month and 520.6% from the same period of 2021. In the first four months of the year, the country received 192,000 international arrivals, up 284.7% over the same period. During the SEA Games 31, Hanoi welcomed nearly 700,000 national visitors and 31,448 international.

Director of the Municipal Tourism Department, Dang Huong Giang, said that after the 31are Southeast Asian Games, the said service would continue to strengthen promotional activities in various forms and promote the application of digital technology to attract more travelers, especially international visitors. And this, for the rapid recovery of the tourism sector after the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic.
