Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam welcomed more than 746,000 American tourists in 2019 and the number of Vietnamese travelers to the United States continues to increase, which bodes well for cooperation in this sector between the two countries. .
Since the first scheduled direct flight on November 28, 2021, Vietnam Airlines (Vietnam Airlines) has transported more than 15,000 people between the two countries, with many flights showing an occupancy rate of 80%.
In the first four months of 2022, the total volume of goods transported by Vietnam Airlines between the United States and Vietnam reached nearly 100 tons, an increase of more than 61% compared to the same period of 2019, according to the National Tourism Administration.
Signature of memorandums of understanding
At the Vietnam-US Trade, Investment and Tourism Promotion Conference hosted by Vietnam Airlines, Saigontourist and Thiên Minh Group in San Francisco on May 17, the tour operator conducted several work and signed memorandums of understanding with a number of American partners specializing in the tourism sector concerning the operation and development of services, products and travel between two countries.
It was a special program on the occasion of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s official visit to the United States from May 11 to 17, carried out in the context of Vietnam having mastered the COVID-19 pandemic well and completely reopened international tourism.
Placed under the theme “Rediscovering Vietnam”, the conference conveyed a message of revival, openness and strong development of Vietnam after two years of health crisis, as well as highlighted the prospects for cooperation between Vietnam and the States United in the future. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and accompanying delegation, US Ambassador to Vietnam Marc E. Knapper, San Francisco leaders and three hundred guests attended the event, where organizations and companies of the two countries exchanged cooperation protocols.
