Resident Evil: new information from the Netflix series has been revealed

The Resident Evil video game franchise is set in a world where the Umbrella Corporation, a pharmaceutical company, has created a biological weapon known as the “T virus”. This one is designed to turn people into zombies. Also, most games in the franchise follow characters from Raccoon City.

Netflix’s new program ‘Resident Evil’ will follow Jade Wesker, daughter of Albert Wesker. This is the recurring antagonist of the video game series. The latter struggles to survive in a world overrun by the infected, while searching for her missing sister. However, the young girl discovers the link between his father and Umbrella Corporation.

The trio of teaser posters gives a small idea of what fans can expect to see in the new series. In the first, we see a vial of the T-virus, the thing that triggers the plot and starts turning people into zombies. That said, this adaptation of the Resident Evil video game looks bloody good!

The second poster shows a joy pill. It’s an antidepressant made by the Umbrella Corporation, covered in blood. While the third poster simply shows the new “Resident Evil” logo created for the soap opera. Obviously, this is a sign of what is surely to come in the series!

Details revealed so far

Most of the characters in the Resident Evil series are kept secret, in order to surprise fans of the game. But we have important casting news: Lance Reddick will play Albert Wesker. Reddick will be joined by Ella Balinska, Tamara Smart, Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph, Paola Nuñez, Ahad Raza Mir, Connor Gossatti and Turlough Convery.

This series is not the first attempt to adapt the video game franchise. In effect, six movies were directed by Paul WS Anderson with Milla Jovovich. And a new live-action feature film, Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, is coming out in 2021. There are also a number of animated films based on the video game series. However, it looks like none of these titles will tie into this upcoming Netflix program!

Netflix’s Resident Evil series was created by Andrew Dabb, who served as a long-time producer and showrunner on “Supernatural.” Note also that Dabb is both showrunner, executive producer and screenwriter of the new series. Mary Leah Sutton also did double duty on the program as executive producer and writer.

Netflix seems to be stocking up on Resident Evil with this live-action series and at least two animated projects. The first of which, Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, was released on Netflix in July 2021. The platform itself didn’t release anything official regarding the live-action series until August 27, 2020. That’s when they released the first details via the old NXonNetflix account!
