Unprecedented technology for optimal viewing and entertainment in a compact format

Auto-leveling, auto-focusing and auto-keystone correction functions for the perfect image every time

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced the launch of its all-new portable display and entertainment device, The Freestyle, ahead of CES 2022. The Freestyle features never-before-seen technology and flexibility to deliver optimal viewing and entertainment for customers looking to take video and audio content wherever they go.

Aimed at Gen Z and millennials, the Freestyle is a projector, smart speaker, and mood lighting device all rolled into one lightweight, portable device. When it comes to portability, the Freestyle weighs just 830 grams, making it easy to turn any space into a screen. Unlike conventional projectors, the Freestyle’s versatile stand allows up to 180 degrees of rotation allowing users to show high quality video almost anywhere such as on a table, floor, wall or even ceiling , without a separate screen.

“The Freestyle is an innovative projector that delivers a cinematic-quality experience without space limitations,” said Pat Bugos, Vice President/Head of Consumer Electronics, Samsung Electronics Canada. “With ultimate versatility and flexibility, the Freestyle offers a fun, all-in-one solution to meet consumer needs in a compact and convenient form factor. »

In addition, the Freestyle is equipped with automatic keystone correction and automatic leveling functions, thanks to state-of-the-art technology. These features allow the device to automatically adjust its screen to surfaces at any angle and deliver a proportional image every time. Additionally, the autofocus feature allows the Freestyle to display a crystal clear image on surfaces at any angle up to 100 inches in size. The Freestyle also features dual passive radiators for crisp, deeper bass without distortion, and its 360-degree sound radiation lets customers enjoy a cinema-quality sound experience wherever they are. .

To power it, the Freestyle is compatible with batteries[1] external devices supporting USB-PD and an output of 50W/20V or more, so users can take it anywhere, whether traveling, camping or otherwise. The Freestyle is also a pioneer in that it is the first portable display that works when plugged into a standard E26 light socket.[2] without the need for additional wiring, besides compatibility with the traditional wall outlet option.

When not being used as a projector to stream content, the Freestyle also provides an ambient light effect with its ambient mode and translucent lens. The Freestyle is also a smart speaker, which analyzes music to associate visual effects that can be projected on the wall, floor and everywhere else.

The Freestyle offers smart TV features found on Samsung Smart TVs, with built-in streaming services and mirroring and casting functions compatible with Android and iOS mobile devices. It is the industry’s first portable projector to be certified by leading global OTT partners, providing customers with the best content viewing experience. It is also the first projector to include remote voice control, allowing users to choose their preferred voice assistants when using the device hands-free.

The Freestyle will be showcased at CES 2022, January 5-7, and will be pre-ordered online in Canada on January 4.
