Netflix releases a number of films and series in its catalog each week, without anyone noticing them or the platform officially announcing it. Ecran Large looks back at the new features added by Netflix from May 20 to 26, 2022, films and series combined in a non-exhaustive list.
What are the films and series not to be missed this weekend on the streaming platform?
Love Death & Robots
Available on Netflix – Duration: 9 episodes lasting between 10 and 21 minutes approximately
Mutiny, betrayals, and ventriloquism with a corpse, according to the official synopsis
What does it talk about ? Terror, imagination and beauty come together in these new episodes that tell surprising short stories, ranging from the discovery of an ancient evil to a comedy apocalypse.
Why do you have to watch it? ‘Cause nothing like a little science fiction anthology to discover new talents and happily enjoy the style of animations, each more different than the next. And above all, above all, we look for the Bad Traveling by David Fincher who extends his creative horizons there, and thus signs his very first animated project. Has the filmmaker finally managed to achieve his 20000 Leagues Under the Sea so dreamed of?
Failing to be the adaptation (lost forever?) of Jules Verne’s story, Fincher’s short film seems rather the theater of a merciless fight between monstrous assassin decapods to a clueless crew. And if that already has enough to arouse a myriad of little stars in the eyes, the other films on the program for this third season of Love, Death & Robots are not left out: nightmarish space trip, folk rehabilitation, and zombie orgy in a cemetery will be expected. Something to enhance, at least we hope, the too random quality of the two previous seasons.

The Spanish Breaking Bad
What does it talk about ? When his teenage granddaughter falls victim to drug traffickers invading her neighborhood, a war veteran decides to take matters into his own hands.
Why do you have to watch it? With Spanish series, Netflix is on the right track. After the success of its original series, The Ladies of the Telephone, Elite or even of Money Heistthe platform has acquired the broadcasting rights of Interviewsa series broadcast on Spanish television since February 2022. With its synopsis worthy of a film with Liam Neesonthe series will probably succeed in convincing a lot of people.
Entangled in a dirty story of drug trafficking, young Irene, played by Nona Sobo, is put back on the right track by her revered grandpa, played by actor José Coronado. Ex-serviceman teams up with corrupt police officer to end hostilities disturbing the tranquility of the Entrevías district, located in Madrid. If you like reassembled sixties and stories of corruption, this new series is for you.
the dead don’t die
On Netflix May 25 – Duration: 1h43
What does it talk about ? In the serene little town of Centerville, the dead rise from their graves and savagely prey on the living for food. The battle for survival begins for the townspeople.
Why do you have to watch it? Because The Dead Don’t Die is a film directed by Jim Jarmusch… even if it is one of his weakest. If the idea of seeing the director of Down by Law, dead man and Paterson rub shoulders with the zombie movie – after the vampires ofOnly Lovers Left Alive – was quite pleasing, to see coming out of it a soft ride that only touches on the genre instead of embracing it is quite disappointing.
Directed by an author who gives himself the air of revolution a genre that he actually treats with contempt, The Dead Don’t Die uses its own gimmicks and is ultimately not appreciated either in the first degree or in the second. Nevertheless, remains the simply mind-blowing reunion of talented comedians (Bill Murray, Adam Driver, Chloë Sevigny, Steve Buscemi, Danny Glover, Caleb Landry Jones, Iggy Pop) who all practice a sometimes amusing nonchalance.

shaman king – new episodes
On Netflix May 26- Duration: 14 episodes of approximately 24min
“So many paths to explore, is it your destiny to be Shaman, Shaman King?”
What does it talk about ? The medium Yoh Asakura participates in a tournament every 500 years between shamans who aspire to become the all-powerful Shaman King.
Why do you have to watch it? A modernized setting for a first series that will have long cradled a bygone childhood, this adaptation of the famous manga by Takei Hiroyuki repairs 20 years after the broadcast of the first animated series, the wrongs of a second half that had left many fans the tile. Now is the time to find out the true conclusion imagined by its authorwhich will reveal who the hell of Yoh or his lifelong rival, the ruthless Hao Asakura, will become the new Shaman King?
If it is possible to blame the reboot for Shaman King its irregular animation and its frenetic rhythm, these new episodes which therefore cover the 33 volumes of the original story, however have the merit of cheerfully pull the string nostalgicand to recall, for the greatest pleasure of early aficionados, much of the original voice cast.
